The Berenstain Bears

Ever since Halloween, Kyle and I have really gotten into reading the Berenstain Bears books together, especially the holiday ones. Last week we read one about Thanksgiving, and this evening (before catching a few funny scenes from "Home Alone" on ABC Family), we read The Berenstain Bears Meet Santa Bear. This book is perfect considering we are taking Kyle to have breakfast with Santa in two weeks ;)

Christmas Cures Even the Worst of Colds ;)

Kyle is feeling much better today already. He has no appetite whatsoever, but hasn't thrown up at all since last night. Fingers crossed. He was all smiles as we introduced him to his new Christmas stocking ;)

Push Ups!

This is from a few days ago. Using their muscles ...

Sick Boy :(

Last night, just as we were getting ready to pack up Kyle and head out to dinner with cousins Sean, Kelly, and Ryan, Kyle surprised us by throwing up for the first time ever, pretty much out of nowhere, pretty much everywhere. We held him over the sink, as his last meal came pouring out. Chris called the on call doctor. She told him that since Kyle didn't seem to have a temperature, we should not give him any medicine. She diagnosed him with the 24 hour stomach bug that's been going around. He must have caught a dash of whatever all his Loyola friends have had all week. Not fun at all. Sean, Kelly, and Ryan were nice enough to order pizza to go. They brought them over and we had a nice dinner in instead. Kyle seemed to perk up as soon as they arrived, making it look like he wasn't even sick at all. That loveable little stinker. Glad to see he was all smiles for company ;)

Tree Trimming

Yesterday afternoon we introduced Kyle to the joys of holiday decorating. We put up our tree, hung our stockings and mistletoe, and added a few knickknacks here and there to spruce the place up. Kyle was pretty delighted by all the little white lights, but seemed to get even more of a kick out of the vacuum we pulled out of the closet to clean up a bit beforehand. Varooooooooom! Chris picked us up some vanilla milkshakes and played some holiday tunes in the background while we worked ... boy did Kyle want a sip of that sweet milk. He eyed them long and good ;) Cheers!

Giving Thanks

This year, we are extra thankful to have the most amazing, beautiful baby boy. You bring us such joy, Kyle Steven. Thank you ;)

Turkey Trot

This morning, while Ky caught up on some sleep at Grandma and Grandpa P's, Chris and I ran in the Edison Park 5K Turkey Trot for the third year in a row. We finished in under 30 minutes with about a 9:44 minute mile pace ... not our best, but pretty good considering we've been slipping to more of an 11 minute pace as of lately. We were lucky to run into Heidi, Joe, E, JD, Mark, Ellie, John, Julie, Augie, and Trixie ... what a great turnout by the Loyola crew. In fact, what a great turn out by the entire Edison Park and surrounding communities ... a record breaking 5,000+ people participated in the race this year. It was such a beautiful, unusually warm morning (think upper 50s?) for a run ... great fun ;)

Ohhh, Lower Lip!

Whenever Ky is really, really sad, he makes this face. So does Chris :)

Anniversaries, Graduations, and Birthdays ... Oh My!

Last night we met up with Chris' family to celebrate his parents' anniversary, Amy's graduation, and Maggie's 30th birthday ... plenty of good reasons to get together ;) We had some delicious food and played hot potato with Kyle ... everyone got a turn to hold him as we passed him around the table. He was a good boy and slept through most of the meal.

Christmas Craft

Over the past few days, Kyle and I have been busy bees in the kitchen. I found this fun craft project online, and it's been non-stop Santa production ever since. We wanted something fun to give away as Thanksgiving gifts, and so far all of the ornaments have turned out super cute ;)

Turkey Bowl

Yesterday morning, Kyle and I met a bunch of our Loyola friends for the X? Annual Turkey Bowl ... the bowl's been around for years ... it's pretty much legendary ;) The weather in Chicago was GORGEOUS. Just a perfect fall day. Kyle seemed to enjoy looking around, taking in all the football, crunchy leaves, and slightly new faces ... he's still trying to learn everyone. Chris met us up at the Tolentinos' house later on for some delicious tacos, chili, and pumpkin chocolate chip bars. I really need that recipe, but am afraid it would be the complete end of any hope of a waistline for me ... each bite is just out of this world. Thanks to Kara and Heidi for their hospitality and planning ... it was fun ;)
