Yesterday was my first full day of work, and Kyle's first full day with Auntie Robo. The two of them had lots of fun, visiting our neighborhood park for a whole hour. Here's an ubber cute pic I received from their adventures :)

Airplane Arms!

Chris is traveling this week, so Ky and I decided to practice our airplane arms at the park this afternoon. He's getting the hang of it ...

Happy 1st Birthday, Olivia!

August has definitely been the month of birthdays. Saturday we met up with our Loyola friends again to wish Ms. Olivia a happy first birthday at the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. It was a very girly affair. Lots of pretty pinks and pastels. Kyle was in love with the giant pink balloons. They were the most perfectly round balloons I have ever seen. He dragged two of them around most of the time, saying "Circle, Circle."

Hello Rashmi and Roshan!

Friday after work, Kyle, Chris, and I finally got to meet Roshan - Chris's college friend, Rashmi's little 1-year-old son. Kyle and Roshan had a lot of fun together. Roshan's birthday's in February, so they are only a few months apart. The only unfortunate event happened when Ky followed Roshan into the dirt. Unlike Roshan, Kyle was unable to control himself and just had to sample the dirt - we're talking black tongue, black hands sampling. YUCK. Well the good news is that a little dirt never hurt anybody. At least there were no rocks involved. Good to see you Rashmi!

Last Weekday Playday at Grammy's :(

Before I had to go back to work last week, we made one last attempt to go swimming at Grammy and Grandpa's. Sadly, when we arrived - bathing suits and all - Uncle Kevin informed us that our fun giraffe pool suffered a puncture wound in the garage and wouldn't be able to hang with us ;( We made the best of it with a bottle of bubbles and a swing.

Happy Birthday, Chris!

Last Tuesday was Chris's 31st Birthday. Between our new jobs and our never ending nightmare of a house hunt, we celebrated much more low key this year: a friend's block party over the weekend, dinner Friday night with our families, and of course, FunFetti cake! Nothing says happy birthday quite like FunFetti. Happy Bday. You are a wonderful father and husband. May all your dreams come true ;)

Happt 1st Birthday, Ian!

Sunday was Kyle's 2nd cousin, Ian's 1st birthday (*Ian's mom is Chris's cousin, Jill). We celebrated at their house in Chicago with monster cupcakes, a taco truck, and plenty of sunshine. As Kyle says, It's "/hoot/". All of the boys are so blonde and so big!

Cubs/Cards

Saturday morning, Uncle Kevin and Krystle took Kyle on a fun adventure. While they were running around at the park and pool, Chris and I got in a 4 mile run and finished up all our grocery shopping for the week. Later on, we took the El down to Wrigley for our last Cubs game of the season. They lost by 4 to St. Louis, but it was definitely still nice to be at the ballpark on such a beautiful day.

/sh/ shoes

Friday night we headed out to Old Orchard with one mission on our mind: new shoes. Chris wanted a new pair of comfy gymies for his bday, and Kyle's been walking a little tippy-toed lately, so we thought it was about time we get him a new pair, as well. It turns out Kyle was currently wearing a size 4. He measured at a 5. We bought him a 6 - plenty of room to grow and let those puppies breath :)

More Morning Letter Studies

I'm very proud of all the hard work Ky puts into our morning letter studies. I think all that hard work is starting to pay off. Here is a list of words Kyle currently says fairly well for his age:

Mama
Dadda
Apple (he's pretty ON with this word)
Nana (for Banana and for Grandma Alp)
Orange
Bueberry (for blueberry)
Cheese
Eggs
Wawa (for Water)
Purple (he's pretty amazing at this word. It's super clear!)
Up
On
Off
Ball
Honey (pretty close)
Pooh
More
Yeah
Hanger
Circle (pretty close)
Hearta (for heart)
Home
Hop
Hot
Dog
Duck
Bobba (for bottle)
Puck (for cup ... just a little backwards there!)
Ck (for sock ... missing the /s/ sound)
Tel (for telephone)
Bubba (for Grandpa Alp)
GrumPA (for Grandpa P)
K (the letter)
Y (the letter)
X (the letter)

I'm sure I'm missing some other words, but it's pretty incredible how well he communicates.

Way to go, Kyle!

Nature Center

Wednesday morning, Kyle and I took a trip to the nature center. We saw plenty of animals, both indoors and out. We even got to feed a family of ducks some cheerios while taking a stroll around the pond. Afterward, Ky insisted that we hit up the park before heading home for lunch and nap time with Bunny.
