Summer Cold Virus
Two weeks ago, Kyle was really sick (104 temp and sore throat) with what ended being some sort of virus. As soon as he got better, I took over. I haven't had a fever, but my throat has been sore for over a week. I finally went to see my doctor yesterday, and she told me to drink plenty of tea, gargle, cough drops, etc. (simple home remedies). Last night, while watching the season finally of the Bachelorette, I took her advice and had plenty of decaffinated tea in one of my gramma's old Swedish mugs - one of my favorites! Warmed me right up :)
This morning we entered Kyle in a hospital photo contest. Contestants need to post pictures of their child with their favorite get well pal. Winners are rewarded with a zoo membership. Check out Kyle with his Big Baby, Little Baby, and Go Illini blanket. We'll see what happens.

Neon Tunnel
Yesterday, our neighbor Hannah helped Kyle paint a cardboard orange box that we're trying to transform into a tunnel for his cars. We got the idea for a car tunnel after visiting my friend Liz in Wisconsin. Her son Thomas had one and Kyle was obsessed. I hope he has as much fun with this one.
Graduation Games
Sunday afternoon we stopped by our neighbors' house. They were celebrating their son's high school graduation with a dunk tank, giant game of Kerplunk and Jenga, and of course bags. Kyle really liked the Kerplunk. So much fun pulling out the sticks and watching the balls fall! He also liked helping the soon-to-be college boys restack their Jenga blocks.
Fondue Friday
Friday night, Chris and I went out for fondue while Kyle spent the night and Mimi and Grampa's. We enjoyed cheddar fondue with bread, apples, and veggies, chicken (me) and steak (Chris) fondue with raspberry, curry, honey mustard, and dill sauces, and dark chocolate (me) and caramel (Chris) fondue with strawberries, watermelon, marshmellows, cherries, pineapple, etc. Everything was delicious. We had a great time.
Evening Dip
Saturday night, Chris finally got to get out the new aquatic center with us. It was a little chilly, but we still had a good time. Kyle liked watching Daddy jump off the diving board.
Hockey!
Last week, Kyle's Saturday sports class focused on hockey and dodgeball. The class was loosely structured to accommodate learners who do better with less direction (we think Coach Bryan had Kyle in mind when he came up with the lesson for the day). Kyle enjoyed holding the hockey stick (for a while). He did a nice job keeping the blade on the ground, but got a little frustrated whenever he would miss the puck. This happened mostly because the stick was too long for him, and he couldn't get the grip down right. Kyle did let one of us help him with his grip as he received the puck and hit it back to the other one of us. He got a huge kick out of dodgeball! Loved the idea of knocking a ball into someone - go figure.

Ice Cream Date
Chris had a work function tonight (his coworkers are in this week from the California office), so Kyle and I rode Kyle's bike uptown and had some vanilla ice cream at Oberweis. When we got there, Kyle saw plenty of kids with balloons. I asked the cashier if they could possibly blow up another one for Kyle. She said yes, but another worker came over to our table and told us that the helium machine was off for the night. Bummer! To appease Kyle, they brought him a bunch of stickers ... two of milk jugs ... MILK JUGS! ... made his night, as much as the ice cream, if not more.
