Splash!

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

Sunday morning started off a little cloudy, but luckily it turned out to be another beautiful, sunny day for the city of Chicago. Kyle enjoyed his first trip to Lincoln Park Zoo with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma and Grandpa P. He saw the long necked giraffes chomping on leaves, some sleepy lions, a rhino pushing a barrel, and some apes just sort of lounging around. Before leaving, Kyle also had an opportunity to pet a soft bunny, gaze at some cute chicks in the barn, and make a plastic pink (named Lincoln, Link for short) out of one of those mold machines. Later on, we all had lunch at Grafton Pub and Grill near Lincoln Square. Kyle scarfed down his first kids meal ... chicken tenders. Yum yum ;)

Beautiful Weekend for the Park

With our old tenants moving out and our new tenants preparing to move in at the start of the month, Chris was busy at work over at the condo on Saturday, patching up nail holes, painting, and installing a new medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Since we're now a one car family, Kyle and I had nothing better to do than walk. First we hit up DQ and sampled (and by sampled I mean devoured) the Blizzard of the Month (think chocolate, pretzels, and peanut butter Oh My). Then we headed straight to our favorite neighborhood park. Nice little Saturday.

OMG Apple Sauce! Ha!

Occasionally I will pick up some baby food jars or pouch meals to feed to Kyle when I do not have anything else prepared, but lately his taste buds have definitely been rejecting them, apparently in favor of a more sophisticated palette, which pretty much consists of rice, noodles, potatoes, cheese, chicken, peas, bananas, applesauce and eggo waffles. Monday night I thought I had a nice veggie and chicken pouch meal all ready for him, but that mouth was definitely closed for business. Nothing went in. Food went everywhere (think face, hands, hair, highchair, floor, etc.), and I mean EVERYWHERE. I was pretty much done, so after I cleaned up, I opened a container of unsweetened apple sauce, spoon fed Ky some before he grabbed the spoon and tried to spoon feed himself. At that point, I just said "You win" and let my little boy have his fun.

New Tricks

Ky's latest trick is to tilt his head to the side, pause, get a good look at you, and then tilt his head to the other side and do the same thing. We noticed that Chris kind of tilts his head when he tries to look inside Kyle's mouth to see if any teeth are popping up (he still only has the one front tooth and it's not even all the way up yet), and we're wondering if that's where Ky picked up his new habit? At any rate, it's super cute.

P.S. Ignore all our laundry in the background! It's put away now (for the most part!).

We Sure Love Our Park

Ky went down two slides all by himself on Sunday! It was very scary for Mommy when Daddy let him go, but Kyle was all smiles ;)

It's a Girl!

Saturday we met my cousins up at Goose Island for Sean and Kelly's baby gender revealing party. Apparently at their 20 week ultrasound, they asked the ultrasound tech to write down the gender of their baby (due September 1st) and seal it up in an envelop, which they then dropped off at Party City. Party City, in turn, filled two boxes with balloons, and when the parents-to-be opened them up at the party, out popped a whole lotta pink. Baby Girl Moran is on her way ...

Katie's in town!
Sarah and John were thinking "boy", hence the staches!
Actually, Sean's gonna have this one.
