Thank You!! From Kyle and Peanut Butter

Sunday, Nana and Auntie Amy surprised Kyle with some cozy fall/winter outfits, including a nice warm jacket. Thank you :)

Then today after work, Auntie Robo and Mimi surprised me with a cute little "sprinkle" for Kyle and Peanut Butter. Kyle and Auntie baked cupcakes while I was at work. They were delicious (as anything with cream cheese on top is). Peanut Butter got a couple of cozy sleep sacks for those cold winter nights, along with some cozy booties and pjs. Kyle got a few Peter Pan and Big Brother books, as well as some cozy jammies. Then they both got cute, matching Santa outfits. Perfect for their first weeks together. Thank you so much :)

Halloween on Southport!

This afternoon, around halftime (as the Patriots were destroying the Bears), Kyle and I went to meet some of his Loyola friends (Olivia, Elin, JD, Ellie, Ryan, and Lydia) who were having fun trick-or-treating on Southport. This was Kyle's very first experience trick-or-treating. It was neat to see how in awe he was when a little girl handed him a piece of candy, even though he didn't quite get the concept of saying trick-or-treat, thank you, or Happy Halloween to people. He was also memorized by many of the costumes, especially all the other little Olafs, and the Spiderman he came in contact with. The day was beautiful. The only minor hiccup was that Kyle had fallen asleep during our car ride to the trick-or-treating block party, so he wasn't the most pleasant little party goer. In fact, I couldn't really do anything to change his mood about taking pictures, talking to his friends, or even walking up straight. He remained adamant about remaining the little whiner he had woken up as, and that was that. Even though it took a lot out of me to carry him and do my best to calm his tears, kicks, and wiggles, I think it was a good experience for him, and I'm glad he got to see all the other kiddos in costume. Every one was super cute :)

Pumpkins!

Friday night, Kyle painted his pumpkin, and Chris and I carved ours. Kyle seemed really focused for once. He was really into painting and making sure he used every color at some point. What a Picasso! We selected a Captain Kitty template for our pumpkin, as it was the closest thing to Captain Hook we could find (Kyle has been really into Peter Pan and the pirates lately). Fun night!

Parks!

Last week, after work, I tried to take Kyle to as many parks as we could cover: the Indian Trail Park, the Hidden Park, the Yellow Park ... This boy sure loves his parks :)

Wearing Daddy's Hat!

Columbus Day Clowning Around

Yesterday morning I was sweeping our dining room floor in preparation for a lunch party (about 12 of my family members were coming over to celebrate the homecoming of my cousin Katie and her boyfriend Josh - the two have lived in Colorado for the past several years), when I heard the water start running upstairs. I yelled up to Kyle to ask what was going on (he was supposed to be playing in his bedroom). He yelled back, "Kyle is brushing his teeth". Since he does this every morning, I thought nothing of it, but headed upstairs anyways to check on him. The last thing I expected to find when I opened the bathroom door was this: Kyle standing in the bathroom sink brushing his teeth in the mirror; the water running all over his socks, pants, and stuffed animals.

Uggggh! More cleaning for Mommy :)

Big Brother Practice

Last week we bought Kyle his very own brother/sister doll. Every night we have the two of them do something simple together (i.e. read a book or watch an episode on the ipad). Kyle has to practice sharing and being gentle around the baby. After their activity is over, we help Kyle sing "Hush Little Baby" or "Deep in the Hundred Acre Woods" to the Baby as he gives the baby a kiss and helps tuck him/her into their bed on the rocking chair. In the morning, Kyle helps tuck the baby into his crib as he gets ready for his day. We tell him what a great big brother he is and hope that doing this regularly will help make things a little easier once his new baby brother/sister actually arrives.

A Shower for Peanut Butter

On October 3rd, the social committee at my work hosted a little baby shower for me before the workday began. We played a few simple games and enjoyed some cake from Marianno's. They surprised me with a cute navy blue, white, and gray outfit from Baby Gap. It's only the second new outfit I have for Peanut Butter. It's tininess helped remind us of what's to come :)

Alll Aboard the Grandpa Train!

Congrats Linda and Mike!

Saturday (10.11.14), Chris and I celebrated the marriage of my best friend Lauren's little sister. Everything from Lauren's maid of honor speech to the chocolate fountain, to the photo booth to the martini making ice sculpture was a big hit. We had a great nigh.
