New Fence!

Cozy Home :)

We found a great deal on Angie's List, and on Friday, we had new insulation blown into our attic. I know it's 40 degrees and all, but our upstairs is feeling nice and cozy.

No More Kyles Jumping on the Bed!

Kyle's big boy mattress came in about 2 weeks ago, so naturally he's already jumped on every nook and cranny of it. We have to watch him like a hawk every time he does this, and remind him to stay in the middle because this bed isn't as big as the big bed upstairs. At least he seems to like the new mattress.

Home Improvement

Handy Andy was back all weekend, working on transforming our downstairs kitchen into a playroom for Kyle and Peanut Butter. So far he's removed all the cabinets (and relocated a good majority of them to the laundry room so that we still have plenty of storage), built a large closet along the right hand wall, framed and added an actual door to the room, and installed new baseboard all along the floor. So far, so good!

Secrets of a Silly Billy

Even though he is only 20 months, Kyle totally values his privacy already. Whenever he has to go number two, he finds a private spot to pop a squat and do his business. Sometimes he's behind a chair, sometimes around a corner. Whenever anyone tries to approach him, his bright red cheeks will simply order, "Out!" When we first moved into our house, there was an old radiator cover in the basement. Kyle managed to pop out one of the panels in the cover, and began using this as a secret door into his new "bathroom."

Painting

Since Christmas, we have been busy busy busy working on making our new house more of a home for Kyle. Our first step was to repaint his bedroom. We chose a cheerful yellow color for the walls, and a darker espresso stain for the floors. With all the toys he drops and drags along that floor, I'm sure we're due for a few scratches already.

Hard At Work

I just realized that I've been neglecting our blog lately. We've been so busy with work, Kyle, and of course the new home. Last weekend Chris and his good friend Rob went over to the house and spent almost 3 hours in the freezing Chicago temperatures raking and bagging all of the leaves that had been caked onto our lawn. Way to go! The lawn looks much better. Here are a few before, after, and in between shots to prove their hard labor.

It's Official ... We're Homeowners!!

Today Chris and I officially signed our lives away. We now own a condo in the city and a home in the burbs. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but couldn't be happier about the journey. It's sure to be a fun ride. After the closing, Nana and Buppa finally got to tour the home. Then, to end the night we went over by Grammy and Grandpa's for pizza, champagne, and peppermint ice cream. Yum :)
