This past weekend was awfully rainy, so we pulled out our pots, pans, spoons, and shakers and jammed out in our living room to a nice little beat lead by Kyle. Later on we flipped the pots over and did a little educational color sort with our legos, cooking up some delicious red, blue, green, and yellow soups. We all liked the green soup the best :)

Piano Man

Friday was another busy day. Tot rock in the morning. The theme of the day was trains. Kyle enjoyed filling the moving toy train with bean bag coals and singing choo choo songs with his new buds Frank and Olivia. Directly after tot rock we had a mini pool party with Uncle Kev in the giraffe pool. It was so incredibly hot out so we only lasted an hour. After lunch (our first lunchable) and nap, we visited GG at the Danish home. It was their cocktail hour, so we didn't stay too long, but many of the residents enjoyed listening to Kyle play some hit tunes on the piano. Friday night Chris and I met our friend erin (and her new bf Jason) for dinner at Houlihans, while Auntie Amy and Uncle Matt babysat. Thanks for entertaining the Ky Man :)

Busy Boy

Yesterday was quite a busy day for Ky. We began our morning as usual, with some banana, peanut butter toast, and milk to compliment our letter study. Kyle was excited to finally learn all about the letter K - his absolute favorite of them all. He's pretty good at identifying K's everywhere - from the magnet on the fridge, to the block in his bench, to the button on a keyboard - and enjoyed listening to me talk about Kyle, kites, and keys. Right after breakfast we headed out to the children museum for a few hours. I wanted to get out and do something fun with Ky, and thought this would work out well since the heat index yesterday was unreal. The museum is a wee bit advanced for Ky (I think once he really starts walking independently it will be loads more entertaining for him), but despite crawling quickly away from Mommy and "squirmy wormying" all over the place, he did interact with many of the displays (i.e. magnetic shapes, musical instruments, cars on a track, waterworks, all sorts of buttons that make noise when you press them, bugs, etc.). We didn't go into the play Potbelly's, pet office, or nursery. That level of make-believe can wait 'til our next visit. Right now we're into feeling things out, putting things in other things and taking them right back out, and making noise ;)

Kyle fell fast asleep in the car on the way home (it was pretty hot in there despite during on the air .. :(  ). Since he hadn't had lunch yet, and looked like he was sweating up a storm in his car seat, I had no other choice but to wake him up. As a result, I was only able to get him to take a 20 minute nap after lunch, as opposed to his typical 2 hour nap. Instead of napping, he "helped" me clean up for our afternoon guests (and by helped I mean followed me around and took out ever single thing I just put away). Later in the afternoon, my grammar school friend Lindsay, and her son Soren (22 months), came over to play with Kyle and all of his toys. Soren is walking so that really motivated Kyle to show off his growing skills. For the first time ever, he walked across his entire bedroom (TWICE) without pausing to fall down on the carpet. In return for showing his how to walk, Kyle taught Soren about Yoda and Chewy and the rest of the Star Wars crew. Soren likes toys that make noise, as well, and really enjoyed Yoda's voice. By the end of the day, Kyle was so tired that we put him to bed a little early, which was perfect because it finally gave us a chance to catch up on some "Arrested Development" - we're now through the first two episodes of season 4 ;)
