Reading with Auntie Robo

On Monday, Kyle and Auntie Robo built a fort in our living room. I heard they did some good reading under there. Wish I had a picture of the fort ;)

Congrats Mary Rose and Quinn!

Last Saturday we attended the winter wedding of Chris' childhood friend Mary Rose and her husband Quinn. Both the ceremony and the reception took place at Salvage One, a beautiful space that works to preserve and pass on architecturally intriguing pieces from kitchen sinks to door knobs, pinball machines and sculptures. Every piece of furniture is for sale - often for a pretty large chunk of change - and remains on display for guests to marvel at/sit on/etc. Mary Rose and Quinn's ceremony was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. They wrote their own vows, substituted traditional readings for famous love poems by Keats and Cummings, and walked down the aisle to Elvis. Congrats!

Happy Birthday, Ryan!

Saturday afternoon, Kyle attended his friend Ryan's first birthday party at Little Beans Play Cafe, an indoor cafe and play area in Chicago. Kyle had a fun time riding on the toy truck, checking out the play gas station, and building cool stuff with soft blocks. He hopes Ryan enjoyed her special day ;)

That Grandma Touch

Besides Auntie Robo, Kyle gets to spend time throughout the week with Grandma A and Grandma P, and while he always took little cat naps here and there, both my mom and Chris' mom are much better at getting him to go down for longer periods of time. They must ware him out with all the fun they're having while mom's busy at work :) Here's some proof Grandma P. texted last week. Sleepy Boy :)

Go Ramblers!

Wednesday night we took Kyle to see his very first Loyola Ramblers basketball game at Gentile Arena. We met up with his friends Elin and J.D., and the three of them did a little running around across the far back bleachers. Great exercise for moms and dads, as well. Kyle wore his brand new Loyola hoodie. He got to see LU Wolf, and proved to be good luck for the team overall, as they pulled out a very close 81-79 victory against the Tennessee Tech. Go Ramblers!

Elf on a Shelf

Last Monday I went back to work full time. Even though my new principal is very understanding and my new position is very accommodating, it was still a very tough day. I wish I could stay home. Every day. Forever. With my sweet pea. Although that can't happen, it is good to know he is in good hands. Monday my Aunt Robin watched him, and I came home to this ....

So stinkin' cute ;)

Annual Gingerbread House Party

Since 2005, Erin, Amy, and I (and sometimes our good friend Katie Waser) have been making and decorating gingerbread houses early in the holiday season. This year, Erin hosted Amy and I in her lovely new apartment (we missed you Waser). I think our decorating skills just keep getting better and better. Check out our little village this year ...
