Last Fiesta Before the Ring!

Last weekend, Erin, Amy, and I hosted a Mexican fiesta for our friend Katie's bachelorette party. Leading up to the event, the three of us worked hard pinning cute decorations and sweets on pinterest, decorating erin's apartment in bright colors, baking up unique treats (think margarita cupcakes and pinata cookies), crafting pinatas, etc. The fiesta was success! Katie definitely had a lovely time with her best friends.

 

Go Illini!

Saturday night the Fighting Illini took on the Washington Huskies at Soldier Field. It was Kyle's 1st football game, 1st Illini game, and 1st trip to Soldier Field. What a fun night! Even though the Illini lost by 10, we still had fun taking the train downtown, and showing Kyle what a half time show looks like from the 50 yard line ... great seats!

Happy 60th Birthday, Mom!

Today was my Mom's 60th birthday. We surprised her by celebrating in style - brunch at the Signature Room downtown. The rainy day didn't put a damper on our fun. Happy Birthday, Mom/Grammy! Love you!

P.S. Awesome win by the BEARS in the last 10 seconds of the game. They are now 2-0.

15 Month Check-Up!

Friday the 13th was Kyle's 15 month check-up, and what a lucky Friday the 13th it was. Ky is now at the 75th percentile for weight (24 lbs) and at the 85th percentile for height. His doctor was very impressed at all the talking he was doing. When his doctor asked if he knew any shapes, Kyle ran over to the scale, pointed to an elongated "O", and said "oval, oval!" She also assured us that teeth are coming soon! Apparently kids are expected to have 20 teeth by their second birthday, so Ky's got quite a lot to do in the next 3/4 of the year :) All was well until the doctor said her goodbyes and the nurses waltzed in with their fake smiles and sharp, pointed needles. Poor Kyle braved three shots (chicken pox, flu, and something to help if he is in homes with lead pipes) and one finger prick. He was not a happy camper to save the least but enjoyed some much needed cuddle time with Mommy when we left.

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day! As well as the Bears' home opener! Grammy and Grandpa came over to watch the second half of the game and play with Kyle (Kyle's new word: football), while Chris was out watching the Bears' win with friends. After the game, we walked over to the nursing home across the street from us to visit with Boo and Dzia. The home had Hawaiian dancers for all the residents and their guests to enjoy. Kyle really got into the island spirit, dancing across on Grammy's lap :)
