Skokie Exploratorium

Monday's weather report looked a little iffy, so rather than chance the rain, Ky and I decided to do some indoor exploring in Skokie at the Exploratorium after successfully waiting in line for roughly 30 min to sign him up for Fall swimming and soccer. We did a little climbing, fishing, drawing, sliding, and painting. Check it out :)

Saturday Morning at the Park!

This weekend, we started to have a little work done around the house. Handy Andy is back! And this time he's doing a little painting (front awnings, hallways, doors) and construction (converting the downstairs kitchen into a kids' playroom). In order to give him a little space and to get away from the fumes, we took Kyle on a bunch of little adventures. First we went to the elementary school park. Then we hit up our friends' block party in Edison Park. They had a bounce house and bounce water slide. Perfect for Kyle! Then we headed out to Carol Stream and attended a family baby shower for some Loyola friends. Paul and Erica are due with their first baby - a boy - this September. They also had a bounce house in addition to some yummy traditional Filipino food. After we got home, Kyle and I were pooped, but Chris's fun was far from over. He went out on the town (Jefferson/Edison Park) for Matt's bachelor party. Busy Saturday for the Alps!

Happy Bachelorette Weekend, Amy!

Friday night was Part 1 of Amy's bachelorette weekend festivities. I met her, Maggie, Nana, and three of her girlfriends at a restaurant in Lincoln Park. The girls put together some fun table games (Mad Lips, Amy Trivia, Memories of Amy), and we all enjoyed some pretty hefty portions of chicken, steak, octopus, etc. On the way home, I was stopped at a red light at Belmont and Western (behind two parked cars), when the car behind me (with a couple of Hispanic girls on their cell phones) decided to keep going forward and hit me. I was so upset, and motioned for them to turn right onto Western when the light changed green to hopefully survey the damage. Unfortunately, when we turned the corner and I pulled to the side, the girls sped off around me. I was left with no choice but to look at the car myself and make the decision to head home. The damage wasn't significant (a knick in the rubber bumper), but it still makes me mad that anything should be wrong with our brand new car. People need to get off their cell phones while driving!

While I was gone, Chris and Kyle had dinner in a cool fort that they set up in the living room.

On Friday we had another swim date at the big pool! This time with Uncle Kevin. He joined us for a few hours of splashing, followed by lunch at our house. The Burger King tacos might have been a bit of a mistake ... both of us learned that the hard way!

Spolier Alert!

Auntie Amy bought Kyle his very own gray suit to match the guys at her September wedding. Thanks, Auntie Amy! We bought him some black shoes to go with it, so this little guy should be good to go :)

On Thursday Mimi came over for a swim date at the big pool, followed by a backyard picnic lunch.
