Pumpkin Pancakes!

Sunday morning Grandpa and Mimi came over so that Grandpa could help Chris install a fan in Kyle's new big boy room. Beforehand, we all ate some yummy pumpkin pancakes, sausage, bacon, and watermelon for breakfast. Mimi and I took Kyle on a bike ride to the Hidden Park while the two of them worked. It took much less time than we anticipated. Good job guys :)

Pumpkin Roll and Bash!

Saturday afternoon, the Park District hosted a Pumpkin Roll and Bash to teach kids about composting. Kids were able to climb the giant sled hill, roll their pumpkins down the hill, chase after them, smash them with a shovel or bat, and throw the remains into a wheel barrel to be composted. Kyle LOVED running down that hill and chasing his pumpkin :)

Happy Halloween!

Friday was FREEZING. Literally. It was so cold, that it even snowed a bit. Despite the chilly weather, we were determined to squeeze a little trick-or-treating in for Kyle. This was our first Halloween in our new house, and we wanted him to experience as much as he could. The three of us bundled up, sucked it up, and lasted more than an hour. Kyle didn't complain at all. He actually loved searching for and ringing the doorbell at each house. He also got in the habit of saying "Trick-or-Treat" and "Thank you", even though I think he could care less about the candy, which he got A TON of, probably because there weren't many people out and about. In fact, from the time we got home, ordered Chinese, watched "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown", and went to bed, we only got one trick-or-treater ourselves! Why did we buy all this candy?????

Trunk-or-Treat Uptown

Wednesday night, the park district presented Trunk-or-Treat in the park. Kids were invited to dress up in their costumes, and go around trick-or-treating at a few different businesses uptown. Some businesses/clubs also had caldrons filled with candy placed outside their car trunks, which were decorated for Halloween. Kyle got a little more practice saying "Trick-or-Treat" and picking out candy for his bag. He got into it a little bit, but was a little more thrilled by the following activities: searching for and picking up sticks in the park; running from caldron to caldron; pretending to climb trees; bean bag toss at the library; and walking through the "shadow" house (a blow-up house with a scary creature on the front door). Chris met us at the library after his train pulled in the station. We took him through the shadow house before heading home for dinner, where we were lucky enough to run into Spiderman, Woody, and Buzz .. perfect timing :)

Chilly Afternoons at the Park

Chicago experienced a dramatic drop in temperatures last week, ranging from about 77 on Monday to somewhere in the lower 30s on Friday. Yuuuuck. Oh well. Kyle is a very "busy" boy, who loves his after school park adventures with Mommy, so a little fall weather couldn't stop our fun. We made it to the Indian Trail Park and the Hidden Park a couple of times this week. Here are a few shots of Kyle's famous "o" face at the Indian Trail Park :)

Peanut Butter: 32 Week Ultrasound

Last Saturday (October 25th), Chris and I went to our 32 week ultrasound appointment. We were a little shocked to be greeted by a new ultrasound tech (we've had the same woman for all of Kyle and PB's appointments up until this one). She seemed nice enough, but lacked a little of that TLC we had grown to appreciate in our veteran tech. This girl was in a bit of a rush. When PB's hands were in front of his/her face, she was quick to say that she wouldn't be able to get a good 3D shot and moved on. Our normal tech would have spent time trying to shake the baby up a bit in an effort to get some kind of shot for us to take home. So, sadly, we have no 3D pictures to share of Peanut Butter :( but thankfully we do have some good news to report nonetheless.

Heartbeat: Strong. 153 bpm.
Weight: 4.5 lbs
Organs: All present and accounted for :)
Hair: Lots of it :) Just like Kyle with his little alfalfa hair :)

Fluids around the baby all look good. Peanut Butter is measuring a little over a week ahead schedule, meaning that he/she is going to be long/tall (this apparently does not affect the due date, which is still set at December 17th). Peanut Butter will be 34 weeks on Wednesday.
