"G", Game, /g/

Yesterday - another rainy summer day in Chicago - proved challenging. It's tough to keep a one-year-old entertained indoors. So first thing we did was go over our letter of the day: "G". We learned about goldfish (with it's "old" chunk and "sh" digraph), games, and gum (only because I always say "No chewing gum in school" when reviewing Kyle's u-e "rule" card and he always laughs). I also found an edible paint recipe on Pinterest and tried to make green paint for Kyle to color a drawing I made of a goldfish. It's a good thing the paint was edible, because Kyle was all about sticking it in his mouth ;) Since it was almost nap time by the time I finished the paint, this activity really didn't go over all that well. Again, I'll keep trying with Pinterest despite the fact that some of these activities are really trying my patience. After nap time, we packed up the car and headed to Gymboree for open gym time. Kyle really loves watching all the other kids play. He followed one little girl around most of the time and played "catch" with her. He also enjoyed going between this one tunnel and a rocking horse. It was a fun time, and I'm glad we went, but with his short attention span, it was such a work out for Mommy!
